We faced a
once-in-a-generation President of the Nigerian Bar Association 2014-2016 --
someone who almost gleefully rejected the fundamental values that define who we are in learning, respectful
of rules.
I can prove that he is more
of a non-lawyer in conduct than a real
time Barrister. He wrote his Bar exams alright and passed and was enrolled as a
Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Make no mistake about
it he was called to Bar. His law offices
are manned by Lawyers.
However Mr Alegeh was soon to join the league
of Delta State Contractors for road construction work as the Executive Chairman
of Tratrix Engineering Construction Company Limited, a post he did not
relinquish even sitting in the exalted office of the President of the Nigerian
Bar Association unprecedented. I mean in 1991-1992 Priscilla Kuye was offered AGF,
told to forgo NBA presidency as you know her husband worked in the presidency.
May his gentle soul rest in peace. Amen.
Alegeh could not forgo
Tratrix Construction Company for the NBA Presidency he combined both offices
gleefully against LPRPC 2007 and he had the temerity to write to someone that
the gentleman was misconducting because he critiqued him. I advised the Lawyer
to trash it.
No Lawyer combo, before him
Okey Wali didn’t before him Daudu didn’t to TJ Okpoko SAN neither Alao Aka
Bashorun or FRA Williams. FRA would rather
prefer to buy shares and stocks in blue chip companies. No NBA President living
or dead took office as President and was Executive Chair of a building
construction company. And the heck he commissioned NBA Building project whilst
it was incomplete two weeks ago just to take glory for removing and replacing Engineers
with his own?
The Magu statement, a year ago, Magu made a similar statement to
what he made a week ago calling NBA a rogue association and Alegeh did the
unthinkable, he went to Magu’s office apologetically. Alegeh’s leadership was
un-inspiring, NBA recorded the largest number of lawsuits against him as
President; the NBA Constitution 2015 Ikeja Branch member says he did not
register it at the Corporate Affairs Commission. If Alegeh was a real Lawyer
tell me a Lawyer’s first thought would be to register a resolution of his or
her client’s company at AGM; to perfect it.
We have just been told,
those who registered for the IBA conference Washington DC (Economy in recession so I don’t know how many
are from Nigeria) Wednesday week of the conference US Attorney General Ms Loretta Lynch will speak to our colleagues.
In his two years in office Alegeh never made any impactful speech. I understand
he is propping one Billionaire Arthur Obi Okafor for 2018 and another Olorogun Dafe Akpedeye
for 2020 Alegeh stands for money deals and wheels.
Well then Brother, as you
return to TRATRIC Construction company I wish you make more money and feed your
poverty. Daudu may wish to tell his protégé
JB had tonnes of critics as President of NBA but none ever accused him of plotting assassination ever! Even NBA Presidents who belonged to other cults, Alegeh
is of the Pirate confraternity.
Now leave NBA alone, a professional
bar, restructure to true leadership.
