NBA ELECTION: CERTIFICATE
OF RETURN
As soon as the
Chief Electoral Officer Professor Yadudu issues a Certificate of return to Paul Usoro
SAN, at pre-conference NEC meeting in NBA House, 26th August, it means the election results have been
certified particularly in the light of the non-controvertible fact, there was NO
OVER-VOTING. Under US Laws as well as other Common Law jurisdictions,
Nigeria, UK, Australia, India, Ghana, etc., Certification of election result begins
with counting of votes and certification of votes and ends with the delivery of
a certificate of election to the winner. This procedure was indisputably followed
by ECNBA in August 2018.
I read Learned Paul
Daudu’s Dad, JB Daudu (SAN)’s treatise
in the course of the week during the NBA
conference reference “verifying and ratifying votes”. Sir,
upon a certificate of return being issued by ECNBA and same being handed
to the Winners for the different offices,
it is taken that the votes have been ratified, verified, avowed, proclaimed,
pronounced, affirmed and confirmed.
I am sorry to have
expressed my views now on JB’s post. Only if I had pushed back in time – during
the conference I was distracted over conference bag. So the next thing I read, was court process
being filed by Mr Obi Okafor SAN towards the end of the Conference Thursday or
Friday and that was about when I got my NBA
AGC bag. A lawsuit is not necessary.
There was NO OVER-VOTING for any of the national offices in the NBA election. Maybe
if we had debated the issues abit you may not have gone to court Sirs amicable
and peaceful resolution is the Best particularly in view of the courts being on
vacation.
