What
is going on in this country recession endangers the lives and limbs of
our girls and women. Yesterday on Face book women complained of being
harassed by Igbo men in market places. Same yesterday we learned of
Yoruba and Hausa men in human trafficking moving our girls from Abeokuta
to Libya under horrendous conditions and turning the girls to sex
slaves. That is what this video is about Nigeria save our girls from man
's inhumanity. Click on the video below dear colleagues and by overt
or covert acts do not support human trafficking. Do not cultivate the
mindset of these cruel individuals. That a former NBA President of South
West extraction or of any extraction whatsoever MR FIX IT. would
approve harassment of women lawyers and he gets an Igbo lawyer to help
his ungentlemanly conduct of asking for a hundred million naira ransom
cruel and barbaric!

APC, PDP SAME, ONLY ONE IS A HYPOCRITE! - ARTICLE BY HR ATTORNEY EBUN

THE VICIOUS CIRCLE
In
a bye election into the House of Representatives in Katsina State
recently, it was reported that voters turned out en mass to express
their anger and frustration, with majority of voters booting out the
APC, the ruling party in the State, which is the home state of the
President. This is not the issue.
For
it will be self deception, for anybody to delude himself that the
solution to Nigeria now is to change from APC to PDP. That is grand
delusion indeed, of changing just the garment but retaining the person.
We have seen the worse of PDP in times past and we have now seen the
best of APC. Both are not good enough for Nigeria, because politicians
are the same, at least in Nigeria. It is all about self interest,
nothing more. The corruption of the APC govt, when it will be unearthed
eventually, will be historical. Please mark my words.
The
only difference in the APC misadventure is the active collusion of
progressive lawyers, human rights and pro-democracy activists and labour
leaders, not sparing the media.
In
the past, especially under the military regimes and the renegade
politicians (PDP in particular), activists stood tall as the conscience
of the people, taking out the programmes of govt that were considered
anti people. In the present dispensation, our "comrades", lawyers and
labour leaders, journalists, etc, changed not only the lyrics but also
the tune of all our familiar battle songs. Some even said that we should
suspend the Constitution and the rule of law, in order to enthrone
civilian dictatorship. We are now told that their counterparts in the
military are now planning a coup. Thank God are eyes are now "open".
Let
us not be deceived, to think that the solution to Nigeria is all about
voting out APC. Far from it. Yes, we must rid Nigeria of this current
army of bandits parading themselves as progressives, but never again
shall we fall into the terrible hands of the PDP. Never again! Not in
our lifetime!! Never!!!
Let
our comrades come back home. They have failed Nigeria, but they should
come back home to where they rightly belong, on the side of the
suffering masses of our people. It is bad enough to be a corrupt
politician, but it is certainly worse to be a hypocrite, buried deep in
the pit of a so-called progressive government, that has only grabbed
power just for the sake of it.
Activists
please come back home, speak for the people, organize, mobilize and
take hold of Nigeria. Let us boot out this APC, but by all means fence
off the PDP and take Nigeria back for our people.
Organize, mobilize and take over. Enough of APC and bye bye to PDP.

Still on Revered CJN's Directives on Suffix "ESQ"
Distinguished Colleagues,
We are having to
co-ordinate on Facebook two platforms
this one here and the other RULES WATCH where the Lord Onnoghen’s celebrated
directives was post simultaneously for wider reach to our dear readers.
On this platform I like to
acknowledge a great American, Professor Lynn Fraser approved our CJN’s directives.
Many may not know her, she is a first class US Attorney. She taught me in
Georgetown University Law Center DC LL.M., a course in International human
rights law.
Abiodun Adeyanju Esq also
contributed, he is a Nigerian Lawyer now
a senior staff of the Federal High Court.
Over two decades our
colleagues hailed someone as the Dame of the Nigerian Bar. This came about in
2001 at the International Bar Association Conference in Cancun Mexico I was at
a session on discriminatory practices in the profession and Professor Mensah South
African was on a panel and I put the question to him Sir how do you address lawyers in your jurisdiction and he said “Ladies”
female lawyers and “gentlemen” for male
lawyers and I said in my jurisdiction they say there are no ladies at the bar
and so address all as “gentlemen of the bar” and he said that is bad conduct
and had been discarded. He said when you
return home endeavor to ‘preach the gospel’.
Back home I wrote a few
articles in the law pages of Thisday, Guardian and Vanguard etc and carried out
a campaign such that when my colleagues say there are no ladies at the bar I would
often pushback in saying “I AM THE DAME OF THE BAR”.
ESQ is used in professional
circles connotes same mode as President,
Ambassador, Ministers in the temple of justice – without gender coloration. Kindly shake off the negative soundtrack that
suffix ESQ for ladies means you are no
longer a learned lady– you are a professional lady who takes the same suffix as
a learned man as long as you remain in a profession of learnedness; let us
enamour learned ladies. Re-stating the
horror of learned ladies who get often asked in court “ are you Miss or Mrs” is
no use, I have spoken enough on that & will now rest.
Respectfully submitted

LORD ONNOGHEN UNDERSCORES SUFFIX "ESQ' FOR FEMALE & MALE LAWYERS!
We made the observations repeatedly that it is archaic and outmoded,
when a female lawyer announces her appearance in court, to ask
as Nigerian Judges in habits - "Are you Miss or Mrs?" Infra-dig!
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Walter Onnoghen at the Supreme Court session directed that the use of Miss/Mrs/Ms for female lawyers is doltish and must be discarded.
He urged female Lawyers to resist being compelled by Judges
to disclose their Marital status while announcing their names in
court or in other professional settings and legal writings.
Hon. Justice Onnoghen cautioned that the professional and proper
suffix is ‘Esquire’. He also advised that in cases where more than one
legal practitioner is appearing, without title there should be
introductory
appellation- Messrs for females or male. And for one lawyer appearing
it is
‘Esq’ female or male with of course SAN if he or she is appearing in a matter. This happened today at the
Supreme Court.

PMB's Letter to Senate Fights Shy of the Word "Acting President"
Buhari names Osinbajo ‘coordinator’ of nation’s affairs

President Muhammadu Buhari with Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo
President Muhammadu Buhari says Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will
“coordinate” the nation’s affairs while he is abroad for medical
treatment.
A letter sent by the president to the Senate, notifying lawmakers of his trip, however raised questions Tuesday about Mr. Osinbajo’s powers after Mr. Buhari failed to address him as “acting president”.
Mr. Buhari left Nigeria Sunday night, shortly after receiving 82 Chibok girls who regained freedom after three years in Boko Haram captivity.
Since coming to power in May 2015, it is the fourth time Mr. Osinbajo would be acting on behalf of the president.
Mr. Buhari has won praises for promptly handing over power before embarking on each trip.
This time, the president said his stay in the United Kingdom would be determined by his doctors.
But his latest correspondence to the Senate, read by the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, was questioned by a Senator who argued that Mr. Osinbajo should have been designated “acting president”.
Mao Ohabunwa, a Peoples Democratic Party senator, representing Abia North, said it was not proper to name the vice president “coordinator” of the nation’s affairs.
He was however ruled out of order by Mr. Saraki, after the Senate
Leader, Ahmed Lawan, defended Mr. Buhari, citing Section 145 of the 1999
Constitution.
That section says, “Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as Acting President.”

CHIBOK SCHOOLGIRLS: NOT NAMING VILLAINS?
Now you want to ask why is it easier for Buhari’s
government to release the names and
photographs of innocent Nigerian children
abducted from their school years ago, victims of grueling assault, trafficked and forced into marriages to filthy Boko Haram members yet we have not
read a single name of Boko Haram members
whom FG purportedly swapped particularly
bearing in mind that BH prisoners said
to have been swapped were said to be in custody so their names ought to have
been recorded against their photos; shouldn’t government name some gangsters?. Who should government protect -
