Monday
is Democracy Day! We will celebrate one presidential speech at a time. Mr
President kindly do not Tweet or Facebook Nigerians- one line anniversary
message may lack purpose.
However,
if your Excellency PMB would prefer to read us a speech from Britain on Nigeria’s
journey so far, we will watch it on CNN, Sky News, BBC, Al Jazeera, NTA and so forth.
So I
ask with humility do you want to read us official messages befitting the
sobriety and solemnity of May 29th anniversary?
Or acting
President Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN would address the nation without
interruptions and undue co-ordination from Europe, America or Aides in Aso Rock
tweeting and posting PMB’s pictures. The
other day I was being queried by your
junior staff for petitioning to US President Barack Obama and your supporters
feigned ignorance of US influence in Nigeria; fact that David Axelrod Obama’s
political advisor was your great campaign consultant well paid, Axelrod, Kerry
and Obama did a great job.
Sir, acting
President Osibanjo cannot be addressing our country men and women; children and students in commemoration of our Democracy
day and President Buhari would also be
addressing our great nation same time & day, on similar issues and
solutions. Being in England perhaps in
part, studying British parliamentary system, you well know the Constitution of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria 1999 models on the US presidential system of government hence Nigeria isn’t now running a pseudo-monarchy.
Happy
Democracy Day in advance Nigeria.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Ajie, LL.B(Hons) Benin; B.L(Lagos); MCIArb(UK); LL.M Georgetown,
