NBA AGC 2017: Conference of "Firsts"

Dear Distinguished Colleagues,
The week just gone was our NBA Conference week, like no other NBA AGC.

Who would ever think in my short lifetime I would live to see a general conference of the Nigerian Bar Association where AGC Tablets were distributed across states and regions prior to conference.  Yet I have not lived anywhere close to the number given to us by God.

Who would think in my life so filled with thanks to God’s Grace, that I live to see my learned colleagues pick up their NBA AGC access cards prior to conference with their names neatly typed on that cute conference logo designed and given to us under the supervision of Professor Konyinsola Ajayi (SAN)’ s TCCP under the NBA presidency of Abubakar B. Mahmoud SAN.
-         Legal Pedia et al would install the latest APPs as part of the conference package!
-
-         NBA President’s dinner initially ticketed at N10,000 was declared free to all delegates on Thursday 24th August 2017 – nevermind I couldn’t attend the presidential dinner and my famous Brother Attorney Ebun Adegboruwa sent sms thus “Auntie Carol are you not at the Bar dinner?”
-
-         Learned Son PD posted on my Facebook wall last week,  not upset about incisive criticisms; his cute, gorgeous spirits.
-         I am sharing from my Facebook posts hereunder few pictures of the conference where I had my AGC Tag under category B. Also I bought some NBA souvenirs eg NBA T-Shirts, NBA Pens etc. https://web.facebook.com/carol.ajie

There is room for improvement though but this is marked “satisfactory” pending when the last lap is achieved i.e our electronic conference papers on access codes TCCP already gave us and our NBA affinity cards. We need those NBA Affinity cards to work out discounts at NBA retailing stores and corporate partners such as lawyers’ insurance, airlines, car hire for those travelling, and so on and so forth.
Thank you
Thank you so much.

Those Sexiest Attacks: Lauretta Onochie

Dear Lauretta Onochie
One junior colleague Mr Oyinatumba  wrote  on Facebook of your photograph in UK with PMB and his Senior  Media Aides etc  a bad language using the “B” Word he quipped
“Why is Lai Mohammed looking at Lauretta Onochie’s Bxxx”.
Shocking remarks that!
I couldn’t protect you on FB even though human and gender rights promotion and protection is my turf.

You recall not too long ago in 2016 you actually attacked me over an online petition I had written and presented to Whitehouse blog addressed to former US President Barack Obama  with 4,400 signatories collated; may click the link hereunder. I had called for the resignation of Mr President Buhari if he were unable to obey court orders cos his first and media chat had slanted towards disrespect to courts.

You attacked a human rights lawyer for doing what I know best, promoting our country’s democracy  and human and gender rights through Nigeria’s Constitutional lense.  Sorry not saying precious,  I didn’t respond to you cos I usually  do not duke with ladies especially in front of public audience unless it becomes extremely expedient,  I usually avoid it.

It beats my imagination that a number of Nigerians including women have launched sexiest attacks against you on a daily basis almost like they are un-dressing you in front of a public audience and ‘raping’ you. Disgusting. This should  stop. Make no mistake about it PMB and his Aides  are not immune from criticism; when it comes to attacking your sexuality/ sexualizing women perhaps you could think of hosting a seminar for Nigerian Wo/men so that they don’t stray too far.

Not long ago a female colleague sexualized  women and  sexualized herself she adorned a mini-skirt and was  gloating Madam “sexy”. Those with a sense of professionality were embarrassed that the actress Omo-sexy had  infected members of the honourable noble and learned profession.   There is a different scenario here – the traditional attire you wore in the said photo was a decent gown and you were fully covered madam;  you and the other lady Abike Dabiri were nicely and decently kitted  and there was in the midst of  grim,  semblance of “gender balance”.
You may wish to call a Masterclass to address it in an atmosphere of civility where participants agree to disagree.
Best,
CA

NASS vs- CSO-Bill; NASS vs- Affirmative Action Bill

We could launch a protest  against NASS  when they return from vacation on their anti-gender posturing and anti-CSO bill. We’ve talked to them quietly to see why they should respect the affirmative action and Nigeria’s civic space.

RESPECT not REPSECT. By the way a few online who tag “REPSECT WOMEN”. The word is “RESPECT WOMEN” when a lawyer mis-spells her own label when you are wrong in wearing a principle she represents, don’t call out flub or the blundering spelling “repsect” its “respect”. So that we become more bound to respect all your gender rights work.
Thank you!
Good morning

Prof Osibanjo Recycles Judicial Commission of Inquiry Chair!

His Excellency Acting President of Nigeria Prof Osibanjo,

In 2013, Gov Amaechi set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry  under the Chairmanship of Justice Biobele Georgewill.   The same Judge who now heads the Judicial Commission of inquiry set up few days ago. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/239297-just-osinbajo-sets-judicial-commission-probe-human-rights-abuses-nigerian-military.html

Recall that Kaduna State government had set up a judicial inquiry and had produced a report and recommendation on the  extra-judicial killing of  hundreds of Shiites  Dec 2015. http://kdsg.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Report-of-the-Judicial-Commission-of-Inquiry-into-the-Zaria-Clashes1.pdf

Aware that the commission of inquiry  appointed by then Gov Amaechi was headed by the same Justice Biobele Georgewill and was declared unconstitutional by Justice Lamenkara Iyaye of the High Court of Rivers State, all its members restrained. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/142892-rivers-assembly-crisis-court-declares-amaechis-commission-of-inquiry-unconstitutional.html

There is no representative of the National Human Rights Commission NHRC in the judicial probe you set up; rather  you appointed a representative of the National Security Commission. There is also no member of the NBA Human Rights Institute inaugurated weeks ago nor is there present any known member of the International human rights community. Pursuant to the Tribunal of Inquiry Act,  may I ask if the hearing is going to be a public hearing or  they will sit in closed sessions?

Prof Sagay advised  against your appointment  into ICPC of  2 nominees who had taken Billions from their Institutions,  need to  avoid those mistakes President Buhari initially made and I sent early signals to please watch his loss of  goodwill and PMB didn’t listen until his popularity  with the Talakawas nosedived.

All the Best.

Mark Zuckerberg: Facebookversary

Mark Zuckerberg
Chairman/CEO Facebook

Although you are indeed a genius and we all respect you but have unique ways of embarrassing me on Facebook. Now and again you celebrate Friends anniversary. Kindly leave me out of your Facebookversary.

Stop putting my photographs with those of men on Facebook page; With Women maybe. With men you expose me to the risks of their spouses mis-reading the ‘match’ and thereby a possible physical attack launched on innocent gal. I do not go to Nigerian men, at all beyond  strict professionalism. I do not want to hear that I tried to snatch somebody’s heartthrob. Not true about non-existing competition. Please Mark Zuckerberg save my good name.

Thank you!

Carol Ajie.
