PEERS SET OF 1963: MRS P.O. KUYE AND MRS H.A BALOGUN

Mrs P.O Kuye and Mrs HA Balogun were classmates,  called to Bar when so many here were toddlers or not even born in 1963. One rose to become the first female General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mrs Balogun and the other became the first female President of Nigerian Bar Association, Mrs Kuye, at different times. Someone is asking if they are peers. YES!.

Both women of GREAT substance!.  Both S'Westerners. Both of whom are my older/respected friends. Chief (Mrs) Kuye would call you when you have lost an NBA Election for the office of General Secretary Kuye would say ‘Carol why don’t you file for another office and then contest the office of General Secretary later’.  When Mrs Priscilla Kuye was NBA President she would call you not minding you are her junior at the Bar by far she would say 'Carol you will support  my regime' (in the "90's). And I did respond: “Yes Ma”. 

Mrs Kuye kicked against AGF job such that when IBB offered to her, the position of Attorney General of the Federation/Minister of Justice she would have been first female AGF, she said “NO!” Emphatically that she preferred the office of President of NBA to AGF or whatever.

Married to Chief Kuye his great soul rest in perfect peace, Amen! he was on FGN top post. She is a good Catholic and understands celibacy rules that if you are a celibate you keep to your vows of chastity and abstinence till you make Heaven. Mrs HA Balogun is a good Muslim married and separated, her children are two Big Boys one with her in a law firm she founded now situated in V/Island, hard worker  like Mrs Kuye disciplined also like Mrs Kuye.  Kindly no one ought to frown at Mrs Balogun for taking  Govt appointment as first female AG Lagos State. She helped many law firms grow I confirmed it though I wasn't  enrolled then and not a beneficiary thereof, that Mrs Balogun as AG Lagos, would insist on franking only law firms must frank legal documents and earn legal fees.  She once contested for the office of NBA President and lost blame NBA she got only 4 (four) votes.  Yet another woman Otunba O Ajayi contested office of NBA President scored 2 (two) votes. Mrs Funke Adekoya lost  the NBA Presidency to Olisa Agbakoba 2006. NBA Big Sisters were severely beaten. So did Mrs Justina Offiah SAN. 

NBA election not about Mrs/Dr/Professor. “Great Mrs” married to “Great Mr Guy” or “Mrs Chastity” spouse of Lord Jesus, the men in NBA should learn not to be frightened of our female colleagues henceforth.

My IBA Paper 2017: I Sent Mrs Mfon Usoro to Represent Me

In 2017, I wrote a paper on MEGA FIRMS: “Why Africa is lagging behind”. The topic was given to some of us, IBA Panelists to speak to. I asked Mrs Mfon Usoro to please represent me on the panel and make the presentation on my behalf she did, she got on IBA panel referenced above and converted my name to hers but that is okay because I am all for women empowerment. 

In 2018 at NBA AGC, Mrs Mfon Usoro would appear half bare-chested to NBA social events and politely I corrected her via text message because she is our NBA First Lady and wife and I said she should model on decent and professional clothing at least with a sleeve on, she took the correction, she now appears at least in short sleeves instead of leading by bad example by being half clad and that is commendable.

I was not the one who reported NBA ICT Partners Chams Plc and Paul Usoro SAN to EFCC for electoral fraud, please.

I Didn't Say Paul Usoro Rigged NBA Election. I Said it Was Alleged

Today Saturday 10-11-2018 feast of St. Leo the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church. I don’t mean to bore non-Catholics by professing my faith.  Pope Leo reigned 440-461  AD and had persuaded the Emperor at the time to recognize the primacy of the Bishop of Rome in an Edit in 445. 

Advocacy the art of persuasion: Take advocacy from anyone with real LL.B., not a few people who claim they’re human rights advocates and never saw the walls of Law School or as much as a Faculty of Law in Nigeria or abroad. IMPERSONATION!

Paul Usoro SAN contested the office of NBA President 2018, his first time to run any election in Nigerian Bar Association,  or hold any office at any level in NBA. Hence was established a Whatsapp forum for the following lawyers:

1.  Mr Paul Usoro SAN & Mrs Mfon Usoro

2.  Attorney Carol Ajie, LL.M Georgetown 

Carol Ajie Esq., cannot disclose every information thereat. thought to guide Paul Usoro to become a good President because he was to get advise and suggestions considering his limited NBA expertise. Or tell me how do you elect a president and you critique them in the open. You don’t. You critic them in a restricted circle so they take the corrections, hints unless they prefer Facebook blogs critiques. But it was Mr Paul Usoro SAN in his surprising want of wisdom, who said people including CA should criticize him on Facebook, Blogs, and in law review articles, etc. Mr Paul Usoro’s preference to now be critiqued in public. He thought NBA is all about winning elections.

Talking about election, I have read Elombah publishers in the link below yesterday Friday 9-11-2018 in these words,  as a staunch backer of the Usoros, I, Carol Ajie  said the Usoros rigged the NBA election. I never said that Sir Elombah please my Brother Barrister I never said that because I don’t know that act of rigging,  because I did not  visit the Usoros at any time throughout campaigns and e-voting. I saw the Usoros last, some years ago in Abuja but we communicate  via emails, Facebook  whatsapp & phone. 

The Usoros manned the e-voting platform in August 2018. They are the ones to answer questions on the allegation of rigging as charged. That is what I said that just as the Oshiomholes are answering questions on rigging party primaries so also Mr Paul Usoro SAN will answer questions on similar allegations of rigging and votes swap as alleged specifically by the other NBA Presidential candidates, 2018.

APC Chair Oshiomole's Arrest: Precedent for Mr. Paul Usoro

The arrest by State Agents of Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole over APC Party primaries and allegations of bribery and corruption sends a  strong signal.

Recall that the NBA Presidential election 2018 faced some allegations of vote swap and suspicions of rigging in favour of Paul Usoro SAN. Following which,  Chams the NBA ICT Partner post-election was requested to submit the materials used for the NBA election for vetting by an independent body. When immediate past President of NBA A B Mahmoud  then appointed  KPMG Auditors who are yet to commence work because Paul Usoro SAN has not given the required co-operation to the Election Auditors. Rather Mr Usoro appointed another auditing firm, PwC to look into the NBA finances as at the date he was inaugurated by AB Mahmoud SAN. Despite request to disclose PwC’s fees to be paid by NBA,  Mr. Usoro would not disclose  PriceWaterHouseCoopers’ fees. Currently one of the presidential candidates Prof Ernest Ojukwu  sent a Freedom of Information request to NBA GS you all read it online.

I think Mr. Usoro SAN should demonstrate competence and transparency by disclosing it forthwith.

But the bigger issue however is if State Agents DSS or EFCC quiz Mr Usoro  following Oshiomole’s precedent…. they moved against Oshiomole, to establish that they could also move against Paul Usoro SAN. I think Paul Usoro has Put NBA in a state of confusion.  E.g Mr Usoro has yet called NEC – NBA meeting for this quarter November 2018 as required by the NBA Constitution.  That is Mr Usoro’s new face of NBA as hinted in one of his dour speeches. Meanwhile Mr Usoro has pulled down the NBA web icon OPNBA – Office of the President of NBA because as we pointed our earlier, Mahmoud  was the name on the page months after Usoro was sworn- in.  Mr. Usoro’s want of admin skill in these matters. He went to the Federal High Court Legal year to chide the Federal Judges in Sept 2018 for not updating  Court website when NBA website under the supposedly internet savvy Lawyer  Paul Usoro was as bad.

Treasured citizens be they Caucasians, Hispanics or Africans. Life is precious. God gave it free of charge. Don’t take it. 

Shiites are Nigerians protesting the detention by the military of their Spiritual Head.

Note: Should 2019 election result  be disrespected assuming Atiku wins because we don’t know  at this time if Atiku will win. All we decipher is Atiku seem to have support train. 

Do you know we were at the Cathedral  yesterday Saturday 3^rd Nov.,  at the Papal Ground hitherto Blessed by His Holiness Pope John Paul  whilst the Saint was with us,  and someone stood up to give a goodwill message on behalf of Atiku. He said Atiku had travelled out. But Buhari should have sent a representative because it is important to imbibe Key Traits of religious tolerance.

Shiites are minority Muslims if Buhari cannot tolerate his own Muslim minority group is he a Fundamentalist?  We don’t know   if Atiku is going to win. First  seek the  God of Face and you ask Him specifically who is going to win and He will tell you unmistakably before the elections. So if Atiku Wins, if used advisedly, “IF” he wins and Buhari fails and refuses to follow the precedence set by President Jonathan  in May 2015 by handing over power in a peaceful and smooth transition, Trump and his military could use the Tucano aircraft to pick Buhari and move him  to face inter alia charges of genocide and other war crimes at the Hague. 

Nigeria  under Buhari appears to be at war.  So Buhari and his Military Loyalists kindly watch the Commandments that “Thou shall not kill."

Usoro Does Not Represent Humility as Buhari Does Not Represent Anti-Corruption

On Thursday 1^st Nov.,  the Day of the  Solemnity Of All Saints. I read a text on Facebook from my Brother  Barrister Ebun Olu Adegboruwa Esq., in whom am well pleased. Any reader knows I have respect for Ebun and when he applied for SAN for the first time I was hoping he would make the list. Festus Keyamo made the list Falana did Agbakoba did Adegboruwa is as good as these other progressives.

When people keep asking me to apply for Silk, I usually refer them to Ms Ayo Obe that they should ask her the former head of chambers of G O K Ajayi SAN why she refused to apply for SAN at all. I also ask they should please call Mrs Hairat Balogun Life Bencher to ask why she did not apply for SAN at all despite her busy practice. Ditto  Chief (Mrs) Kuye. Applying for SAN female Lawyers there are some unholy hurdles about SAN application and you may decide to keep your soul pure or impure. 

NOW To Ebun Adegboruwa:-  when you give an opinion do not contradict it. I give you an example many thought Paul Usoro SAN rigged the NBA election in connivance with the EC NBA and NBA leadership  under the presidency of A B Mahmoud.  Usoro SAN  was my candidate Ebun didn’t as much as tell anyone whom he voted for. It is my suspicion however that Ebun voted for Prof. Ernest Ojukwu SAN Because Femi Falana Olisa Agbakoba Okocha SAN Wole Olanipekin SAN  some former Presidents backed Ernest Ojukwu. As to A.O Okafor  SAN former Presidents who backed him JB Daudu & Okey Wali SAN.

Yesterday Thurs  I sent a text to Ebun,  he replied Friday, excerpts “Good morning Dame, ….. have not (backed) any candidate for NBA election…”.  Let’s end the quote there. I asked my good Brother Ebun  you  must have voted for an NBA  presidential candidate. Uptil now my Brother Barrister Ebun has not disclosed the name of the presidential candidate he voted for in August 2018. 

What am I getting at?. Ebun was once persecuted I said persecuted because you don’t query a Christian Lawyer who donates  part of  his or her hard earned income to his or her Church or Pastor or Priest etc. I stop there. EFCC was only bent on clamping down on Ebun because he was perceived as being overtly democratic in a regime whose mission was to turn Nigeria into a one party state. Happily that is not going to happen. I was in the front row of that costly struggle to push back autocracy and I started not in 2018 but in 2015. BACK TO MY BROTHER BARRISTER EBUN

On Thursday within a week of your article you wrote of the two contenders, APC’s Buhari and PDP’s Atiku thus: that one is looking for his certificate and the other is looking for visa to travel at the age of 70. 

Bros., always try not to contradict yourself  to retain respect, Brother.  Having exculpated Buhari of his certificate issues, you are not allowed to taunt him with his certificate saga again. You may however critique if you may on  issues of pernicious human rights!. Religious intolerance! Recession and Economy! Clamp Down on Voices of Dissent!  Buhari’s Fight against corruption turns out to be selective and as corrupt or perhaps more corrupt than the politicians he fights over corruption. Buhari’s Fuel Subsidy Payments.  Citizens’ Disappearances and Killings. These other issues but not WAEC cert following your exculpation pleas.

Do you know during the NBA Presidential campaigns and after it was alleged that the NBA election was rigged in favour of Paul Usoro SAN by Mahmoud’s leadership.  I did not say Usoro rigged or you paid EC NBA to rig or you paid CoS Murray to cook up the election books bcos I don’t know if such took place. And my views haven’t changed whether he is in my best books or not. I critique him on visible steps as NBA Presidt.

So you would see for example Usoro’s post-election conduct.  E.G Usoro said SGF wrote to him a letter dated 31^st August 2018 to make nominations into NHRC and other statutory bodies. One of the first set of letters he would have received as NBA President perhaps.   Assuming SGF wrote on NHRC I don’t believe Usoro was asked by SGF to make nomination into NHRC. I think it a bunco for a SAN with T-challenges.  It was on 18^th October, 2018 that Usoro said ‘CA I want to nominate you into the Governing Council of NHRC’. What was Usoro SAN waiting for? Assuming indeed SGF wrote to him.  He was waiting to be seen. That is  corruption. He actually said see me and I retorted “ what?!! 

Holy Moses!” That unnecessary argument went on by phone for  some weeks before he regurgitated  NHRC letter  purportedly dated 31^st August 2018 on 18^th October 2018.  Usoro is not a humble person.  Humility?. No!  A humble person does acquire grateful personage.
