Dear Friend, Today, President Obama announced the nomination of Merrick Garland, a federal judge with impressive credentials, to the U.S. Supreme Court. The President has done his job by nominating such a widely-respected individual to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. Now it is time for the Senate to do its job, by conducting a fair process, holding a hearing and bringing the nomination to a vote. #DOYOURJOB Tell Senators to promptly fulfill their constitutional duty to provide advice and consent. Take Action Despite protests from Republican Senators, the reality is that six Justices have been confirmed in presidential election years, the most recent being Justice Kennedy, a Reagan appointee who was confirmed by a Democratic-controlled Senate. A person of distinction and impeccable credentials, Merrick Garland likewise deserves to be considered expeditiously and fairly by the Senate. Don’t let Republican Senators get away with their outrageous campaign to refuse to do their job. Tell your Senators to stop standing between women and justice. The Supreme Court’s decisions touch the lives of everyone on a daily basis, a fact that is especially true for women,  and the Court should be working at full strength as soon as possible.
