NBA ELECTION: ARTICLE 2.4(C) OF NBA CONSTITUTION 2015 UNTETHERS ANY MISCHIEF.

ECNBA 2018 IS RIGHT TO APPLY ARTICLE 2.4(C) OF NBA CONSTITUTION 2015 which reads:

 

“The ECNBA shall issue guidelines for conduct of electronic voting, which shall amongst other things provide for verification of voters, place, time and platform to be utilized for electronic voting for each particular election year taking into consideration the state of available technology and Information technology infrastructure of the Branches in order to afford all registered voters the opportunity to vote.”  - Article 2.4(c) EC NBA is the appropriate committee to act in the circumstances & has issued its directives. Please additionally, I refer to the dictum of Hon Justice Nweze in SKY BANK PLC vs- IWU (2017) 16 NWLR (Pt. 1590) SC 24; the Supreme Court held -  where the words in a Constitution, are clear and unambiguous, a literal interpretation (not one importing mischief, but untethers it) will be applied, that is the words will accorded their plain and grammatical meaning. See also N.E.W LTD vs- DENAP LTD (1997) 10 NWLR (Pt. 525) 481; OJOKOLOBO va- ALAMU (1987) 3 NWLR (Pt. 61) 377; OLAREWAJU vs GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE 1992 9 NWLR (Pt. 265) 335;  EGBE vs- YUSUF (1992) 9 NWLR (Pt. 245) 1.

He was in the High Court Nnewi to challenge his disqualification by EC NBA in a suit with nil prospects of success, unable to reverse anything even in ‘ancestral jurisdiction’?. I told Osigwe that his lawsuit would become his albatross, he didn’t listen. EC NBA aptly acting under our Constitution has given NBA a schedule until Saturday 4/8/18 when NBA election result will be announced by EC NBA.

NBA NATIONAL OFFICERS' ELECTION 2018 NEW TIMELINES RELEASED BY EC NBA

Dear Colleagues,

By Statement dated 29/7/18 ECNBA has released NEW timeline as follows:- 

1.  The Election process will commence with  Verification exercise on Tuesday 31^st July 2018

2.  Verification exercise will commence latest at 8pm Tuesday 31^st July, 2018.

3.  A Call Centre will be opened to provide assistance to members who may have challenges with the verification exercise.

 4.  Verification of members ends at 10am Thursday 2^nd August 2018

 5.  Formal transfer of verified data to e-portal service provider, Thurs 2/8/18

 6.  Accreditation and voting will commence on Thursday 2^nd August 2018, at 10pm till 10am Saturday 4^th August 2018.  EC NBA in further exercise of its  official roles and function,  will announce the  NBA election result  immediately afterwards as articulated in its Statement dated 29^th July signed by EC NBA.

NBA PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES AHEAD OF ELECTION YOUTUBE

Distinguished Colleagues,

Yesterday I got a text message from Olisa Agbakoba SAN on a presidential candidate he planned to back, he said that he had read all the  NBA presidential programs 2018 and found his candidate’s satisfying. As a former President of our Association, and considering Dr. Agbakoba is a human rights lawyer, a  Critic, an intellectual, I had expected at least a one liner on the aspect of his candidate’s manifesto or program that he had read and found more satisfying than any other candidate's,   not to read as  "inchoate assessment".  

NBA Sister Barrister in whom I am well pleased, worked with a number of NBA Brothers and Sisters in 2006 when Agbakoba was running for the office.  My foremost role in your 2006 election, critical to events leading to eligibility to contest. Matter of fact I tagged Agbakoba my NBA Son and a past President said but he is older than CN AJIE. I argued that the word is used symbolically to connote, with humility,  that I brought Agbakoba into NBA from the Civil Society where he stood and still stands tall. I had expected Agbakoba (co-incidentally  he is a politician) to defer to his NBA Mom,  one Caroline Nonyelum Ajie.  

We see Agbakoba’s NBA Sister backing the candidate adopted by EBF as Agbakoba tries to back  former Chairman of EBF/ Teacher. I think I know why Agbakoba and his Sister adopted the strategy to back different candidates they want if either wins it becomes easy for either Layers to swing in.

Augustine Alegeh and Afam Osugwe adopted a similar strategy. Soon Osuigwe was disqualified, Alegeh’s candidate and Osigwe appeared to be pursuing a lawsuit without prospects of success, Afam and Alegeh plotted to back different candidates just in case one of whom wins becomes easy for the duo to get in. Alegeh and Afam, 2 peas in a pod often plotting together in NBA.

Back to Agbakoba and his twin NBA Sister. Please I suggest pure professional relationship so none should read impure thoughts of innocent Lawyers;  Agbakoba and his NBA Sister or anyone. His Sister long took a position and Agbakoba appears to be taking a contrary position for reasons identified above.

Dr Agbakoba Sir election is in a few days, here is why I ask you to back eminent candidate, Paul Usoro SAN for the office of NBA President 2018. I am forwarding two Channels TV video recording of PU. HE PLEDGED TO TACKLE ENCROACHMENT ON LEGAL PRACTICE AND MORE....

He had received the sum of N300Million  (Three hundred million naira) as the co-ordinating Counsel in a Governorship election matter and he carried out his client’s instructions and they asked the Lawyers in the said election matter all of whom confirmed, the man of Integrity, Paul Usoro SAN paid all of their professional fees. We see a few Senior Advocates of Nigeria who collect N500Million and never paid a dime to any of the juniors working with them in a Governorship election matter, being some of the most  lucrative briefs.
