“Alegeh explained that the Independent
National Electoral Commission, INEC, Microsoft and National Democratic Institutes have been invited to verify the
parameters of the e-voting system”
– Vanguard Thurs 21st July 2016
FactCheck:
NOT TRUE
I have just
spoken to the National Democratic Institute they said they will oblige if NBA writes to them to come and observe the
e-voting and that until now they have NOT received Notification or invitation from NBA.
In Jan 2015, I was invited to a round table
by the National Democratic Institute,
the NBA was also invited to assess Nigeria’s democracy and NBA General
Secretary ably represented the association. (Nowadays someone is sponsoring a
GS Candidate who cannot even write and has poor public communication skills
appearing like Melaye (junior) those Alegeh backed to threaten women in
Nov 2015 in front of NEC NBA Sokoto - fortunately for Great Ladies, the Men could not get their targets)
NBA has yet communicated with NDI on
NBA e-voting system and if Mr Alegeh is not disposed to seeking those who
conceptualized e-vote advocacy campaigns over a period of years identified by
Learned Author Femi Aborisade in his tribute in the New Telegraph Monday 18thJuly
2016 at
page 24 “First, it must be recognized that the rank and file members of the
NBA, led by people like renowned constitutional lawyer, Dame Carol Ajie, the
leading human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, the principled late human rights
crusader, Bamidele Aturu, and many others, campaigned vigorously for the
democratization of the process of electing NBA national executive members.”
- Frontline Human Rights Activist Femi Aborisade, founding General Secretary of National
Conscience Party.
In the
event of Mr Alegeh-led
regime being loath to write to some of the prominent names associated
with
e-vote campaigns and or write to NDI to observe if we are keen in
conducting a credible and transparent election by e-voting 30th-31st
July NBA and the civil society
have played watch dog roles at general elections in 2015, Teacher practice
what we preach.
