NOTICE TO ALL LEGAL PRACTITIONERS
RE: APPOINTMENT OF FIFTEEN (15)
ADDITIONAL JUDGES FOR THE BENCH OF THE NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL COURT OF NIGERIA.
Augustine
Alegeh SAN, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, hereby notifies all
legal practitioners that the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Chairman of the
National Judicial Council has approved the commencement of the exercise for the
appointment of fifteen (15) additional Judges for the National Industrial
Court of Nigeria
In line with Rule
Three (ii) of the Revised National Judicial Council Guidelines and Procedural
Rules on Appointment of Judicial Officers, Heads of Court and the President
of the Nigerian Bar Association are requested to recommend suitable and
qualified persons for consideration.
In making a
recommendation Heads of Court will take into cognizance the provision of
section 254B (4) of the Constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria
1999 as amended which provides that: “A person shall not be eligible to hold
the office of a judge of National Industrial court unless the person is a Legal
Practitioner in Nigeria and has been so qualified for a period of not less than
ten years and has considerable knowledge and experience in the law and practice
of Industrial relations and employment conditions in Nigeria.”
All recommendations
(nominations) along with the curriculum vitae and photocopies of credentials of
each nominee must be received by the President of the National Industrial Court
of Nigeria, President’s Chambers, 10 Port Harcourt Crescent Area 11, Garki
Abuja on or before December 18, 2015.
