BUHARI UNVEILS BUDGET ON CHRISTMAS EVE!

Dear Barrister OQ,

It would appear on Christmas Eve, the 2016 Appropriation Bill was unveiled by the email shared in our country Nigeria blog post. I have downloaded AM the 7 page Bill via my home printer HP small but effective. We await the breakdown of the appropriation bill 2016. We Note though that it would appear Mr President Buhari’s regime is minded to paying debts, good, bearing in mind that government is a continuum of what was owed by the previous regimes.

The explanatory memorandum of the bill says N1.4 Trillion is being proposed for debt servicing.  Good, President, taking responsibility!

You would see that the Federal Ministry of Justice has earmarked N17Billion. That is 3 or 4 Billion less AG Adoke’s annual budget and he left unprecedented debts including non-payment of professional fees for cases concluded whilst he was in office and some good old lawyers are playing politics with reference to  Adoke's investigation. That is unacceptable!

When the budget is detailed out, we will see from the debt services part what is dedicated perhaps to outstanding fees.
NJC has a budget on N70 Billion
INEC N45 Billion

Contribution to International Organizations N6 Billion, perhaps after the yuletide FG, NASS will drill down the details of these organizations Nigeria being obligated to fund as the list not yet slated.
Thank you and Christmas Blessings.
Best,

Attorney Carol Ajie
