Great Lady Suu Kyi
Nobel Peace Laureate, leader of NDL. In Nov 2015 NDL won majority seats in
parliament and won a seat for herself but she can’t be President of Myanmar;
her country’s Constitution was amended to exclude anyone with foreign family
members from becoming President. The Constitutional amendment had actually
targeted her. See if you are a great person you could become a target. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/11/11/asia/myanmar-elections/
But that is not why I
am writing, the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association excludes a member
of a political party from becoming President, General Secretary or even a
lesser office.
Drawing from Myanmar’s
experience could Mr J-KGadzama SAN (sorry we cannot prefix Chief because
NBA is not a Chiefdom and can’t he see NBA Presidents Okey Wali SAN simply
Mister; JB Daudu SAN simply Mister even with JB’s fat fees on account of Dr
Saraki, Dasuki – by the way Dasuki’s associates have been detained it’s in the
media this morning – over allegations of collection Billions of Naira for
military equipment purportedly not supplied after monies had been paid
for the contracts and I really don’t want to comment until all the facts have
been stated by both sides in on-going litigation)
Now could Gadzama
contest for the office of the NBA President with huge political cleavages over
two decades and could JKG truly separate his name from his party even though he
may have resigned his membership of same and I think has a lawsuit against his
party for unpaid fees. May tell that to the marine, if his political
party didn’t patronize him how come he acquired so much in terms of estate in
Asokoro, Abuja, Damaturu Crescent in Garki 2, Abuja, Lagos etc.
